Cheshire and Warrington Combined Authority's brand identity
We created a distinctive brand expressing the new Combined Authority’s heritage and ambitions.
The Challenge:
The new Combined Authority needed a distinctive brand that reflected the region’s heritage, brought its communities together and expressed its ambitions for the future. With just four weeks before its first public meeting, the identity also needed to work across a new website and materials for major launch events.
The Approach:
We worked closely with the authority’s leadership, elected members and stakeholders to develop a shared narrative around place, people and ambition.
From this, we created a flexible visual identity combining the initials C and W with a wheat sheaf motif drawn from the region’s heritage. We developed the typography, colour palette and applications, working alongside the website agency to bring the brand to life across digital, print, animation and exhibition materials.
The Outcomes:
The first brand applications were activated in fewer than 20 days, meeting the authority’s launch deadlines. The identity gave Cheshire and Warrington a coherent presence across its inaugural meeting, UKREiiF and official launch conference, and has since represented the region on an international stage.
“Grey Fox delivered the most impressive brand development assignment I have ever come across in my career and public sector communications.
Against challenging timescales, they showed imaginative and creative thinking; original research and insight; and delivered a first-class outcome against the brief.
Ben, Paul and the team worked collaboratively and with incredible composure, bringing stakeholders on board and securing backing for this crucial assignment.
Their work helped introduce the Combined Authority and the Cheshire and Warrington region to the world, delivering impact with our partners and stakeholders on the regional, northern and national stage."
