Health Education England: Enabling Effective Learning Environments Communications Strategies
We co-produced communications strategies and content to support fairer clinical placements across England.
The Challenge:
Commissioned nationally by Health Education England and delivered locally, the Enabling Effective Learning Environments initiative aimed to create a better and more equitable placement experience for clinical students. Each region needed a communications strategy to explain its approach and support implementation across NHS and university partners.
The Approach:
We worked closely with local programme leads in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside, Humber Coast and Vale, East of England, and Lancashire and South Cumbria. Through workshops and in-depth interviews with students, educators and stakeholders, we co-produced strategies that reflected local priorities and built shared ownership.
We developed agreed outcomes, messaging hierarchies and practical content plans, creating video and animation to bring each region’s approach to life.
The Outcomes:
Each region implemented its communications strategy, helping embed its local approach across partner organisations. The strategies and supporting creative content connected the national ambition with local delivery, giving partners a clear, consistent way to communicate their work to improve clinical placements.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Ben.
The development of a communication strategy has been pivotal to the management of the project and has been met with positivity and enthusiasm.
Ben was innovative and the workshops were well led and had a really positive outcome.”
